Parrotia persica
Persian Ironwood is one of the best trees for leaf colour. New foliage opens reddish purple, turning a dark healthy green in summer and then to a spectacular fall display of yellows, oranges and reds. Branch habit is somewhat horizontal when young but eventually becomes a broadly pyramidal tree. Older trees have the year round attraction of grey and white exfoliating bark.

Parrotia persica 'JL Columnar'
The Persian Spire is a columnar variety of the Persian Ironwood as it has a columnar to upright oval shpae. Its foliage emerges solid purple and as it breaks dormancy it turns to green with purple halo margins. During the fall the foliage transforms into orange-red, yellow and red-burgundy colours.

Parrotia persica 'Inge's Ruby Vase'
Inge's Ruby Vase Persian Ironwood is an introduction of Specimen Trees with an upright vase-shaped crown. The foliage flushes bronzy-red and keeps this well into summer. Fall colour is mostly an intense scarlet-red.
