Rhododendron 'Hellikki' (Finnish Hybrid)

Hellikki - H1 - late season. Hellikki is a dense rhodo from the University of Helsinki breeding program. Dark violet-red flowers. New leaves are indumented, turning dark green with age. VERY HARDY Note: Light tomentum on the surface new growth and slight indumentum on the underside of the leaves as the leaves mature: Most Finnish and Yakushimanum Rhododendrons are covered with a felt-like coating of silvery white, cream, fawn or cinnamon hairs on the surface of the leaf (tomentum) and on its underside (the indumentum). Usually the tomentum gradually disappears during summer, while the indumentum remains year-round.

Rhododendron 'Helsinki University'(Finnish Hybrid)

Helsinki University - H1 - late season. Rhodo named for the University of Helsinki breeding program. Similar to Haaga but a little hardier and the flowers are a little lighter pink with salmon-red and orange specks. VERY HARDY

Rhododendron 'Unique'

Unique has smooth, oblong leaves that are densely distributed over the plant forming the perfect backdrop for the bright pink buds which open to buttery cream flowers, with a faint pink flush and crimson spotting. Beautiful! Older plants will be so covered in flowers that the foliage becomes invisible. Will tolerate full sun but will do best in filtered light.

Crete- H1 - mid season. Rhodo yak Crete has magenta-rose buds opening to light purple flowers, quickly fading to white with a few ochre spots. Tan tomentum on young foliage. Green, fairly narrow foliage with beige indumentum. Crete grows wider than tall. A slow growing rhodo.

Ken Janeck - H1 - mid season. Ken Janecks flowers are fuchsia-pink fading to white, the upper lobes striped fern green. Grows twice as wide as tall. Foliage is dark green and heavily indumented

Mist Maiden - H1 - mid season. Mist Maidens pink buds open to apple-blossom pink flowers fading to white with a deep purple-pink stripe and some yellow spotting. Foliage is larger than other yaks, silvery when new, turning dark green with fawn indumentum. Stem and winter buds are grey. Grows broader than tall. Possibly one of the best of the yak herd!

Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Yaku Princess'

Yaku Princess - H1 - late season. Yaku Princess has lovely pink buds opening to apple blossom pink flowers with greenish spots fading in time to almost white. Flowers in ball-shaped trusses cover the compact, rounded plant. New growth has silver tomentum and the mature leaves have a pale brown felt (indumentum) underneath.
